The dial
A three-wheel Group 2 safe lock you can dial open, right here. It is the engine from thedial.ca, which Yitzchak built on his phone: every wheel, gate and contact point is worked out as you turn.
The bolt is back. The door swings open.

The fence rests on the tallest wheel that is not on its gate. Slope is the right contact point, the one you read; hook is the left. When a wheel's gate comes under the fence, the slope point drops toward the hook. Wheel 1 carries the first number, wheel 3 the last.
Combination
How to open it
- Turn left, passing the first number three times, and stop on it the fourth time. Left means the numbers climb under the red mark.
- Turn right, passing the second number twice, and stop on it the third time.
- Turn left, passing the third number once, and stop on it the second time.
- Turn right slowly. At 6 the lever drops into the gates; keep turning right until the dial stops at 96. That is the bolt coming back.
Without the numbers it opens the way a safe technician opens it: turn into the contact area between 5 and 15 and read where the two contact points fall. The readings above show what your fingers would feel.
Feel
Neither tells you where the contacts are. They only fire the moment you catch an edge from the inside, turning slowly.
